A Favourite Cheating Chai Tea

Quick Cheating Chai Tea

When I need a quick pick-me up but I’m pressed for time, I’d rather savour that time over my warm tea cup than waste it steeping chai leaves in a pot or over a stove. Right now I’m doing exactly that listening to the welcome summer rain over my colour bond roof. My favourite chai tea in a bag is from Celestial Seasonings and it’s yummiest when made with Coco Quench coconut milk from Pure Harvest – no need to add sweetener!

Pure Harvest are based in Victoria and are the first company I know of here in Australia to make available ready-to-drink organic coconut milk in a tetra pack (not so nice from a can and time consuming to make yourself). Coco Quench is blended with brown rice milk, which enables you to froth it up for your latte and hot chocolate too. I was so excited when I’d discovered it as I had been using almond milk for my hot chocolate and this is no match made in heaven!

Although Celestial Seasonings are not local (they’re in Colorado, where I first discovered them) they are worth a mention based on their ahimsic ethics of production, sustenance and trading. My favourite tea bag of theirs is Bengal Spice – chai made the way I make mine on the stove-top: no caffeine, just the cinnamon, ginger, cardamon, cloves, nutmeg and vanilla. This is very pacifying for my Vata dosha when made with almond milk.
