About Jackie and Go Yoga

About Go Yoga Adelaide

As Sharon Gannon, the respected yogini, activist and co-founder of Jivamukti Yoga says, you can’t “do Yoga”. Yoga is who you are, your natural state. It means union with eternal happiness, bliss, and unconditional love. It means freedom from suffering. What you can do are yoga practices that purify the body and mind so you can free yourself from suffering, from obstacles that prevent you from experiencing such bliss. Go Yoga offers Jivamukti Yoga practices in the form of transformational classes, courses, workshops and events steeped in the philosophy that happiness and freedom is possible for all beings. Without a doubt, you will notice that Go Yoga practice is also an effective exercise program and stress-reduction technique – a beneficial side effect of the universal goal!

Regular Go Yoga classes are held in the Adelaide suburb of Brighton. In addition, Go Yoga can bring the practice to you in the form of private, small group or corporate sessions in any location around Adelaide. You will find Yoga classes at Go Yoga suitable for students of all levels, ages, shapes, sizes and experience. Above all, Go Yoga classes are steeped in the philosophy that happiness and freedom is possible for all beings!

Go Yoga has received annual Health4You Most Popular Award since 2016!

Jackie’s Yoga Journey

With a PhD in Wound Healing and Gene Therapy, Jackie’s early background was steeped in science and medicine. Always interested in health and fitness, however, she concomitantly became a group fitness instructor at the age of 20. After a major cycling accident, Jackie attended her first Yoga asana class through rehabilitation. She soon later began studying and practicing Hatha and Prenatal Yoga in Florida under her first teacher, Sandra Angelou-Kaplan, of Sandhi Yoga, from 2003 until 2006.

Upon moving back to Australia in early 2007 and while pregnant with her twin daughters, she completed Level 1 teacher training at Samadhi Yoga studio in Sydney with Katie Manitsas. The newfound joy of teaching Yoga, together with the birth of her daughters and the love and support of her husband, ignited a sea-change that saw Jackie quit her career in medical research to pursue the practices of Yoga full-time. In 2009 she completed Advanced Level 2 (500 hour) Vinyasa teacher training at Yoga Trinity in Port Douglas with Heather Agnew and started her own business of classes, workshops, one-on-one sessions and corporate Yoga. In 2014 she completed a further 300-hour Jivamukti teacher training with Sharon Gannon, David Life and Yogeswari. Now, she continues her studies by attending annual Yoga immersions, courses and conferences with her teachers and upholds senior Level 3 Yoga teacher registration with Yoga Australia and AUSactive, formally known as Fitness Australia.

Jackie’s Childbirth Education

and Hypnobirthing Journey

In all, Jackie has been working in the health and wellness industry since 1993 in her roles as a medical scientist, fitness instructor and Yoga teacher. For years she has creatively integrated Yoga’s ancient mind and body wisdom to help women lead a healthy, active and peaceful pregnancy in her antenatal yoga classes. She has literally shared in hundreds of birth stories, including her own to twin daughters.

However, she has also witnessed so much fear, ignorance and confusion surrounding childbirth and the decision-making and organisation of maternity care. Jackie was eager to add the Hypnobirthing Australia™ Childbirth Education Program to her qualifications so she can give mothers the essential tools, support and confidence they need to follow their instincts and make conscious choices throughout pregnancy and birth.

Due to her diverse background, Jackie’s classes stem from the unique perspective of integrating age-old holistic birthing knowledge with the advancing science of childbirth. Mothers gain deep understanding of birth physiology plus respect for the hidden powers of their bodies. Her classes provide mothers and partners with an antenatal education program that supports and empowers women to have a positive and sacred birth experience.

Jackie runs hypnobirthing classes in her lovingly-built Go Yoga studio in Brighton, South Australia.
