The Spring equinox falls Thursday September 22 and the transition from winter to spring can be dramatic, as we have witnessed outside in nature. The transition can also be quite strong within our own bodies. Our bodies may feel tired and sluggish due to excess toxins, our emotions may be low or even depressed and our minds uninspired due to the cold and short days of winter and extended darkness. Yet we associate springtime with notions of new birth and beginnings so it can motivate us to spring clean, declutter and detox our lives. Ayurveda, the sister science of Yoga, teaches that the energy of the body reflects this energy of the earth.
Ayurveda offers many helpful tips for transitioning into the seasons, including how to eat and nourish our bodies and daily routines. If you’d like to learn more about how the weather, your own constitution and the food you eat affects your energy (prana), digestion and overall sense of well-being, consider attending the Ayurveda and Yoga Mini-Retreat Sunday October 9!
In this full-day retreat you’ll learn the basics of Ayurveda to help you with your own wellness in very practical and easily accessible ways. Topics will including dosha (personal constitution) analysis, nourishment for healing and routines for either calming and clearing or energising and invigorating the whole body and mind. The day will include two Yoga practices – beginning with a dynamic Jivamukti class prior to Ayurvedic study and ending with a restorative, supportive hatha class and extended relaxation. The ancient teachings of Ayurveda can help you understand your own lifestyle ebbs and flows and in turn support you through the changing seasons of the year and indeed the unfolding seasons of life.
The early bird cost of this full day mini-retreat is $100 if paid prior to Monday October 3rd 2016. Price increases after this date to $120. Morning tea and a full warm, sattvic vegan lunch is included in the price. *Money will be fully refunded if cancellation is made prior to Monday September 26th 2016, absolutely no refunds after this date.
